The AIA New Jersey Educational and Scholarship Foundation is proud to announce that applications are now open for the 2026–2027 scholarship cycle. This year, the Foundation is offering multiple scholarships ranging from $500 to $2,000 to help support NJ architecture students as they pursue their education and professional goals.

  • New Jersey Residency:
    • Maintain a permanent legal address in New Jersey, or
    • Be an independent student residing in New Jersey, or
    • Be a non-resident student enrolled in an accredited School of Architecture located in New Jersey.
  • Matriculation Status:
    • Be enrolled full-time in an NAAB-accredited or equivalent architectural degree program, and
    • Have completed at least one full year of study toward a first professional degree (Associates, B.Arch or M.Arch) by June of the application year.
  • Design Talent & Portfolio Submission

    A portfolio of student projects and design work is a required and essential component of the application. The portfolio is intended to demonstrate the applicant’s design talent, creativity, problem-solving ability, and potential for achievement in architecture. Reviewers are particularly interested in understanding the objectives of each design assignment and how the applicant approached and resolved design challenges.

Personal Statement

Submit a typed personal statement (750–1,000 words) addressing the following:

  • Your interest in architecture and motivation for pursuing the profession
  • Academic and personal experiences that have shaped your goals
  • Leadership, service, work experience, or extracurricular involvement
  • Challenges or barriers you have faced in your educational journey
  • Your commitment to contributing to the architectural profession in New Jersey

Required Supporting Materials

  • Transcript of undergraduate and graduate college record to date
  • FAFSA Form  for the current school year.
  • Letters of Recommendation (up to two).
